There are literally scores of French press manufacturers around and the differences very minor between them.
Two major factors to look out for are the longevity and reputation of brands - the French press has been around for decades, and secondly the materials should be good quality i;e. made from - toughened borosilicate glass and food grade SS316/318 stainless steel and BPA free plastics if any.
Good quality borosilicate glass manufacturers in India are - Corning, Borosil and Milton etc. But sadly none of them make French press.
We cant stres enough on this one factor though - buy any French press which seems convenient and locally available to you, but buy a good quality, globally acclaimed unit from an original equipment manufacturer even if it appears to cost more than local options to you.
There is a very good reason why these companies and products have existed for decades. Cheap, poor quality copies of it will likely end up as substandard & inconsistent results in your brewed cup every day.
Now on to our specific recommendations of available options in India -
One great option is from Hario - a very high quality glass products manufacturer from Japan.
Our most favourite ones are from Bodum, the Chambord model in particular. We just love Bodum designs and love the classic charm of this one.
Bodum’s quality is second to none and it is clearly the most popular choice globally amongst coffee lovers. At the time of writing this post there are more than 17,000 ratings on Bodum French press variants on first page listing of french presses on Amazon.co.uk!
We heartily recommend both.
